Our GDCF members know that they have to approach their festivals as a small city or community, where people work, eat, sleep, rave (and repeat). Much like in the real world, there are all kinds of different flows such as energy, food, packaging, resources, people, machines, and water. With the international Green Deal Circular Festivals, we are aiming to creating a future-proof and resilient festival industry, by finding and sharing solutions to close all cycles in the areas of energy, food, materials, travel & transport, and water.
By continuously chasing new solutions, our member organisations are challenging and rethinking the system of event production and logistics. In our GDCF Toolbox we offer practical and proven solutions that have been implemented by our member organisations, that can be used as a blueprint for a circular festival.
All energy produced and consumed by festival participants during the build-up, show and breakdown comes from renewable sources. Energy
Food and beverages are sourced regeneratively and locally where possible. At the same time, healthier products are designed and marketed. Food
Waste does not exist; all materials are recycled at the highest possible value. Materials
Greenhouse gas emissions from travel and transportation movements (scope 1, 2 and 3) are eliminated. Travel & Transport
The value of water is maintained, recycled indefinitely while recovering energy and nutrients from wastewater. Water
