Ultimate goal

Ultimately, all energy used for powering of electric and fuel required equipment, heating and cooling during the build-up, execution and breakdown of the event is:

• Reduced to a minimum, by rethinking processes and systems to limit the use of energy and increasing their energy efficiency.
• Fully generated by renewable energy sources (solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal power and kinetic energy), which preferably is locally produced.
• All greenhouse gas emissions within Scope 1, 2 and 3 are Net Zero and all unavoidable emissions are compensated following the guidelines in this document.

In a circular event, renewable energy is preferably generated locally, also to deal with constraints in the capacity of grid connections. However, festivals who have the opportunity to (partly) connect to a local grid connection to bring in renewable energy which has been generated elsewhere, may consider this as a viable option to become fully renewable and Net Zero zero emission regarding energy.
